After only three years in the music industry, Adesh
Samaroo has achieved as much as many would in a life
time.
Singer, songwriter, producer, Master of ceremony, -
you name it, Adesh has done it and with great success
in the exciting world of chutney rhythms.
To top it off, at only 23 years of age he is a youngster
with the talent and ambition to bring the Chutney world
to his feet in very short time.
Since breaking into the Trinidad chutney scene, Samaroo's
name has been on everybody's lips, having already toured
most countries where the spicy rhythms are known.
Currently he is the most sought after artist in Trinidad's
biggest chutney band Triveni and his blockbuster hit
"Rum till I die" is blazing an unending success
trail in the Caribbean and North America.
At the recent Mother's Day Calypso City show at Calypso
City, now renamed Rum Jungle Restaurant and Lounge,
Adesh was a frenetic component of the show. Apart from
galvanizing the huge crowd including fathers, mothers,
sons and daughters into action on the dance floor with
the top 2004 Chutney hits, Adesh was charming the crowd
and leaving them in stitches at the same time with his
witty interjections as Master of Ceremony.
His ability extends to writing as he has penned all
of the songs on his two smash hit albums and produced
a good of it too.
Yet his introduction to music, was not through the two
most popular categories in the industry, rather it was
with the dantal instrument he got his start. It was
the simplest and most modest of starts for any aspiring
musician as unlike some performers, Samaroo was not
born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Nor did he benefit
from help of family members or friends to get started.
"It was me alone from the start, there was no idol
or anyone for me to look up to," he explained.
There
was no need for any help, such is Adesh's gift for music
he excelled in area he turned to. When he started singing,
Adesh needed no training to sound good to chutney lovers
and the important players in the industry, that has
made him the most sought after singer of his style in
the West Indies. It resulted in "Rum Till I die"
followed by "Rum did not kill me", the two
albums that made him the unofficial soca chutney King
of Trinidad and Tobago.
Since then, he is demand to perform at every Soca concert
in his homeland and beyond. Even in the Virgin Islands,
Adesh is now a well known celebrity after doing a rare
chutney show there.
Since that memorable Mother's Day performance Adesh
has made many more trips to the Big Apple, such is his
demand.
And for the future his little frame will be under more
pressure than it has ever known.
